Butterfly Brooch
Our butterfly brooches fasten with a magnet: nothing pierces the fabric, and the same butterfly can move from a coat to a scarf. Cut-out butterfly or round medallion
Among our insect-inspired brooches, the butterfly comes in two forms, depending on the design. The cut-out butterfly, wings spread, is wider than it is tall: it stands out from a distance and needs a flat, uncluttered spot, such as a jacket lapel, the top of a coat or the shoulder of a jumper. The round medallion pairs one or two butterflies with a flower inside a frame, a close cousin of our brooches with a floral design: with no wingtip sticking out, it sits more easily on a shirt collar, a bag strap or a hat.
Before you choose, look at where the butterfly will land on the garment: it needs to find its place without overlapping a button or a seam.
Rhinestone, graphic or colourful wings
It is the wings that give a butterfly brooch its character, as with our dragonfly-shaped brooches, whose wings are just as delicate. They may be covered in small rhinestones that catch the light, worked in relief, or divided into compartments of colour, from graphic black and white to brighter shades.

The outline and body of the butterfly are made of steel, in a gold-tone, rose-gold-tone or silver-tone finish depending on the design. A handy guide: match the colour of your watch, your earrings or the buttons on your jacket. Rose-gold-tone, softer than a classic gold-tone, goes well with pinks, beiges and browns. Silver-tone suits greys, black, white and blues. How to place a magnetic butterfly brooch without marking the fabric
The brooch works in two parts: the butterfly has a magnet on the back and goes on the outside of the garment, then a separate round plate holds it in place from the inside. No needle goes through the fabric, which makes the butterfly a good choice for materials you would hesitate to pierce: silk, fine knitwear, a scarf, a flowing blouse.
- Choose a flat area, with no thick seam or fold between the two parts.
- Hold the butterfly by its metal outline rather than by the wings or antennae.
- Move around, raise your arms, put your bag strap over your shoulder: if the butterfly swivels, move it.
- To remove it, first slide the plate to the side instead of pulling on the motif.
