Heart Brooch

Our heart brooches are held in place by a magnet, leave no hole in the fabric and move from one garment to another in seconds. Depending on the design: a single heart, openwork or dotted with rhinestones, or several layered hearts, in soft or contrasting shades, on gold-tone, rose-gold-tone or silver-tone stainless steel.

One heart or several layered hearts

Among our brooches chosen for their shape, the heart-shaped brooch shows either a single heart or a composition of several, depending on the design. A single heart plays on its outline: solid and marbled, openwork, or open around a rhinestone motif. It catches the eye at a glance, even on a patterned jacket.

Two- and three-heart designs layer solid shapes with a simple outline, usually in neighbouring shades: several pinks, several blues, or a gradient from black to white. On a plain coat, these nuances stand out better than a single point of sparkle.

Rhinestones, iridescent sheen, crackled surfaces

The decoration varies a great deal from one heart to the next. Some are dotted with small rhinestones, clear, black or coloured, that catch the light with every movement. Others focus on the surface: glossy and rippled, crackled, iridescent or satin-finish, or ridged in relief. A few openwork hearts frame a small stylised tree, a design you will also find on our tree of life brooches.

  • Pinks and champagne: soft against beige, camel or light grey.
  • Blues and lavender: bright against navy, white or denim.
  • Black, grey and white: graphic, as much at home in the office as on a colourful coat.
  • Browns and amber tones: warm against forest green, burgundy or chocolate.

Gold-tone, rose-gold-tone or silver-tone steel

The frame of our hearts is made of steel, in a gold-tone, rose-gold-tone or silver-tone finish. Rose-gold-tone, which leans towards copper, suits pink and brown hearts; silver-tone brings out blues and black-and-white contrasts. If it is a gift, look at the jewellery she wears every day: gold-tone hoops or a gold-tone bracelet point to a gold-tone heart, here as across our selection of brooches for women. Other motifs play on the same tones: see our gold-tone brooches and our silver-tone brooches.

How to place a magnetic heart brooch

The brooch comes in two parts: the heart, fitted with a magnet, and a separate round backing plate that goes inside the garment. The fabric is never pierced, and the same heart can move from a silk blouse to a wool coat.

  • Turn the heart over before placing it: depending on the design, the magnet sits in the centre, at the top or off to one side. The plate must go directly behind the magnet, not behind the middle of the heart.
  • Aim for the upper chest, a few centimetres below the collar.
  • Avoid thick seams, linings and pockets: every extra layer puts more distance between the magnet and its plate.
  • To remove it, hold the heart and slide the plate out sideways.

On a bag, you need to be able to reach the inside for the plate. Across the whole shop, many other motifs fasten the same way: see our brooches that attach without piercing.

A heart to give, from Valentine's Day to Christmas

A heart is not just for couples. It makes a gift for Valentine's Day, but also for Mother's Day, a birthday, Christmas or to thank a friend; for a ceremony, see also our brooches designed for weddings.

Frequently asked questions

Can you wear several heart brooches at once?

Yes, it is an easy way to add interest to an outfit. Group two or three heart brooches with different designs on a jacket lapel or near the top of a coat, keeping to the same finish so they look cohesive together. Leave a little space between them so that each heart stays securely held by its own magnetic plate.

Is a heart brooch too romantic a gift?

Not necessarily: it all depends on the person and the note that goes with it. A few lines that make your intention clear (thank you, stay strong or happy birthday) avoid any ambiguity when you give it to a friend, a colleague or a relative.

Will a magnetic heart brooch damage my clothes?

No. It is held by a magnet: the fabric is simply caught between the heart and its magnetic plate, and remains intact. That makes it suitable for delicate fabrics, and you can move it to another garment during the day.

What are heart brooches made of?

They are magnetic costume jewellery made of stainless steel, in a gold-tone, rose-gold-tone or silver-tone finish. Depending on the design, the heart is decorated with rhinestones, an iridescent sheen or colour: each brooch's product page describes its decoration.

How do I care for a heart brooch?

A soft, dry cloth is all it needs; avoid water, household cleaning products and abrasives. Put it on after your perfume, and store it separately so that other jewellery does not scratch it.

What precautions should I take with the magnet?

Keep the brooch and its plate away from bank cards, magnetic media and sensitive electronic devices. If you have a pacemaker or another implanted medical device, ask your doctor before wearing a magnet close to your chest.
